Cofrin Nature Park: Get Outside in Gainesville

Located in the middle of Gainesville off of 8th avenue, just across from the Gainesville Health and Fitness Center is a 30 acre strip of land called the Cofrin Nature Park.  The park offers a 1/2 mile trail for hiking which goes through several different habitats including hardwood hammocks and seepage wetlands.  The wetlands are particularly pretty during this part of the year when the wildflowers are blooming.  There are informational signs along the trail to tell visitors about the habitats that they are seeing.

In addition to the hiking trail, there are is picnic area with a small playground nearby.  The park offers something for everyone, and is a great way to get out and experience nature for families with young kids and little free time.  Admission is free and the park is open from 7:00am to 8:00pm.
