High Springs, in northern Alachua County (just a quick trip from Gainesville) is a quaint village that attracts visitors for lots of reasons.  Of course, there are great restaurants, galleries and even a hardware store with an excellent selection of fishing tackle.  But don’t miss stopping by Adventure Outpost–even if you don’t need to rent or buy a kayak or canoe for an outing on the Santa Fe River.  Owner Lars Andersen has expanded his usual paddling and outdoor gear selection to include art, clothing  and gifts at the Springs Republic Store.

Of course, Lars is one our local “experts” when it comes to outdoor adventures, and his guided and unguided Nature Tours and North Florida Explorations.  His guided tours include coastal tours (Cedar Key) as well as paddling tours of our local rivers (Withlacoochee, Ichetuknee, Santa Fe, Suwannee, Steinhatchee and Wakulla).

For more information, check out Adventure Outpost’s website, but please notice that the address on the site is incorrect.  The Outpost has moved and is now located at 30 NW !st Avenue in the heart of downtown High Springs.
