There are many “plain ‘ol swimmin’ holes” left anymore.  Many have been privatized and others (for the better) have been turned into state parks.  One of my favorites is Gornto Spring, sometimes referred to as Guaranto Spring, in Dixie County, alongside the Suwannee River.

A second=magnitude spring, Gornto Spring has a small beach and a diving platform.

Gornto Spring Park has nice restrooms, picnic facilities and a boat ramp.  Many folks heading to gatherings at nearby Rock Bluff launch here, where there’s good parking for cars and trailers.

The boat ramp at Gornto Spring, on the Suwannee River, is convenient to Rock Bluff.

Located in a Dixie County park, east of Old Town (take CR349 to CR352, then go right to the end of the road), the park is well-kept and the constant 72-degree water temperature is refreshing on hot summer days.
