Add To Trip Planner

Monticello Downtown Community Christmas Presented by Main Street Monticello and Sponsored by Duke Energy, FMB and Capitol City Bank, is Friday December 2nd from 500pm to 800pm.  To start off the festivities at 545pm, in the garden of the Wirick-Simmons House, we are blessed to have 2 church choirs singing carols, New Bethel AME and Elizabeth Baptist Church.  A special invocation will be given by local Minister Phil Carter from Central Church of Christ and the lighting of the Community Christmas tree, donated by Simpson Nursery, will be done by our very own Mayor Tom Vogelsang.  Santa will be arriving by Fire truck to Santa’s Grotto on East Dogwood Street, ready to hear the children’s wishes this year.  Make sure to listen for the sirens!

Come early for dinner at one of the many local restaurants, get a start on your Christmas shopping at one of the locally owned stores downtown, all will be open late for the festivities.  Visit the First United Methodist to see Bethlehem, tour the Wirick-Simmons house while enjoying some egg nog, wander along East Dogwood Street under the Christmas lights visiting the many local non for profit vendors set up selling items to raise money and awareness for their organization.

All festivities are free, including Balloon Characters and Face painting for the children!  Come out and visit with your neighbors and friends, old and new; come be reminded of what it’s like in small town America.

Tupelos Bakery will be open for dinner along with all the other local restaurants at 5:00 p.m. until closing.
