Ichetucknee Springs State Park

Every second full moon of the year (for 2016, it is February 22nd), thousands of Florida Gar congregate on the Ichetucknee River to spawn.  At the peak of this season, it is quite a sight to behold!  Winter is a special time on the river, with viewing opportunities for many other types of fish, reptiles, and birds as well.  This special interpretive program is space-limited and by reservation only.  Participants do not need to bring personal canoes or Kayaks, as all equipment and PFD’s will be provided.  The tour will meet at the North Entrance, off Elim Church Road (County Road 238).  Launch time will be as close to 6:30 a.m. as possible (sunrise is at 7:06 a.m.).  The tour will end at the Last Take-Out at the South End of the park, and transportation will be provided back to the North Entrance.  Participants should dress warmly, as dictated by the weather.  Flashlights during the launching time are recommend.  GoPro-style cameras held underwater have captured some amazing footage on previous tours!
