Reconstruction played out against an economy in ruin. The South was transformed from an elite minority of landed gentry slaveholders into a tenant farming agriculture system. This event is a living history recreation by reenactors such as cow hunters, blacksmiths, cooper/barrel maker, store keeper, women of the house, northern school teacher, musicians. Take time to talk to those who have stepped back in time to bring this period of history alive.
