Best Western Hotel coming to Fanning Springs, FL in 2020

The town of Fanning Springs is located in Gilchrist County, at the junction of SR26 and US19/98, and on the banks of the mighty Suwannee River. Located here, with its namesake State Park, Fanning Springs State Park, it’s the logical place to begin your explanation of the Natural North Florida Region.

The 95-room Best Western Premier Hotel. will be the area’s largest hotel when it opens in Summer, 2020. Here’s a detailed blurb from the local Gilchrist County Journal printed at the groundbreaking in 2019:

The 63,000 square foot, five story facility will include a restaurant, rooms, suites and extended stay rooms. The Suwannee River will be visible from the Sunset Lounge on the roof top of the fifth floor. There will also be a swimming pool, a conference center and horse stables. The developers expect that the facility will host weddings and other large events.”

Fanning Springs State Park is just across the highway from the new hotel site.
There, you’ll be able to swim in one of Florida’s largest freshwater springs.
….or picnic and play at one the park’s playgrounds

Fanning Springs is also the nexus of several paved bicycle/horse trails. From here, cyclists can easily reach Chiefland, to the south, or Cross City, to the north. Fanning Springs is also on the Trenton Trail that starts about 12 miles east. The trailhead for these trails is adjacent to the new hotel.

The Trenton- Cross City Trail crosses the Suwannee River just north of Fanning Springs over an old railroad bridge.

Fanning Springs also offers some pretty “good eats”. There’s fresh seafood, American fare and even some of the region’s best BBQ, all within a short distance from the hotel.
