Suwannee River Quilt Show & Sale
Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park will celebrate the 21st anniversary of the Suwannee River Quilt Show and Sale on October 16 through 18, 2009. More than 200 quilts of all sizes and shapes will be on display during this three-day show.
This year’s Quilt Show theme is “Year of the Child” emphasizing “passing on the heritage of quilt making.” Quilts will be displayed throughout the park including the Stephen Foster Museum, the Stephen Foster Memorial Carillon Tower and the park auditorium. Visitors can enjoy boutiques, quilting supply vendors, demonstrations, lectures, a food concessionaire and door prizes.
A highlight of the weekend will be the Children’s Award Celebration and Quilt Raffle Drawing, planned for Saturday, October 17 at 2:00 p.m. The drawing is for a quilt which has a stunning display of Flying Geese blocks framed in black. This quilt was made and donated by The Lady of the Lake Quilting Guild. Tickets may be purchased at the Cousin Thelma Boltin Craft & Gift Shop where the quilt is on display.
